In one sentence

Authentic Timer is a free focus timer. No account is required. Quiet time hides the digits while you work.

Questions

Is Authentic Timer free?
Yes. The timer, the photographs, the breathing exercise and the done list are free. An account is optional. Premium adds custom presets, playlists, projects and reports.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the page and press start. An account keeps tasks, sessions and favourites across devices.
How is it different from a Pomodoro timer?
The defaults are the same 25/5 rhythm, but the clock is not the point. Digits fade while you work (quiet time), a 4-7-8 breath is offered at the start of every break, and the screen sits in front of a credited photograph instead of a dashboard.
What is quiet time?
While a block runs, the digits recede after a few seconds and a thin arc fills for the length of the session. Hover or tap to see the time. The digits return on their own for the last minute. Turn it off with Q, or in Settings.
What is 4-7-8 breathing?
A cycle of four seconds inhaling, seven seconds holding, eight seconds exhaling. Authentic Timer offers a guided version at the start of every break. You can skip it.
Where do the photographs come from?
Curated Unsplash photographs of Asian landscapes, credited to their photographers, plus landscape paintings from Birmingham Museums Trust, plus generated gradients for when you want nothing in the frame.
Does it work offline?
The app shell is cached by a service worker, so the timer still opens without a network. Photographs and music need a connection the first time they load.
What does Premium add?
Custom timer presets, custom YouTube playlists, projects, shareable reports and extra backgrounds. Pricing is listed on the Premium page. The timer itself stays free.
